Pick By Light System

Pick By Light systems are a technology designed to improve picking accuracy and facilitate paperless order picking. The tags are usually installed on shelves and can be activated using any device. Once an order has been selected it is possible to use different colored LED lights along with numbers for a fast collection.

How it works?

Hardware
  • Devices – The devices are wireless and need a source of 24v to work.
  • Router – It works as a bridge between the devices and the application. Using this system to add a new device to our application takes less than 10 seconds.
  • Server/Cloud – The main application that controls the devices and is connected with your ERP (SAP, Xero, Odoo, Sage200, etc..) and MRP can be installed in a local Server or Cloud.
Software
  • Device Manager – The application is installed in your local server and manage devices and router. It works as a service in the background.
  • Main App – The application is custom to your business, we can connect it with multiple API’s or relational databases.

Pick By Light Process

The steps are really simple but in case that is required, this process can be easily adapted to your system. Below is an example to pick up all the components in order.

  1. Start a picklist – Picking List is created as soon as a Sales representative marks this order as ready for manufacturing or picking. The picking list can be created using your ERP or MRP system.
  2. Click and pick – Staff can see new orders in real-time, select all the orders or components that they need to pick, and pick by Light hardware will light up with the SKU and quantity to pick.
  3. Repeat – Staff repeat the process until the picklist is complete.

Where can I install the pick by light system?

This system can be installed across different departments in your company. Warehouse or picking zone are the main areas where this system can be installed but this technology can be installed even in assembly areas where are multiple components to build a product.
